What you're looking at
This is the western hemisphere as seen right now by GOES-18, a weather satellite parked 22,236 miles above the Pacific. These images aren't pulled from the internet — my station (KO6HXC, Northern California) receives them straight off the satellite's radio downlink, around the clock, with a dish antenna and a software-defined radio. False color: daytime areas show land and cloud detail; at night, infrared takes over so storms stay visible. A fresh image arrives about every 10 minutes.
